About Us

Trees & Bees Ltd behind the scenes

Who and where are we?

We are a family business, dedicated to our beekeeping, and believe that caring for our bees must always be our priority over anything else.

Our beekeeping base is situated just north of the Murchison township and 1.5 km up the Mangles River Valley. Here we have our honey processing facility, including a small honey shop, workshop, sheds and beekeeping yard from which we operate our day-to-day beekeeping work.

Our everyday philosophies

We believe that producing healthy natural honey totally depends on the bee’s welfare and our care of the hives.

If we look after the bees, the bees will look after us. Likewise, if we take great care to produce the best honeys that we can in our region for our customers, perhaps our customers will then look after us. Besides beekeeping is thoroughly enjoyable for us if we know that our honey is eagerly sought after.

Each day is full of beekeeping challenges. However, we find that working positively through whatever challenge is presented to us is so rewarding, especially knowing that we are doing our best for the bees.

Continually adapting

Beekeeping is becoming increasingly challenging as the climate becomes ever more unpredictable. We, as beekeepers, the carers of the bees, understand that we have to continually adapt to change and look after our bees accordingly with an awareness of all environmental aspects that may affect the safe habitat for our bees.

Keeping it natural

We believe in keeping things as natural as possible for the bees so we hot-dip all our hive wood-ware in hot beeswax instead of the common practice of using paraffin wax. Beeswax is a by-product of the hive and collected during the honey extraction process. It only seems right, to reuse this natural bee product to protect the timbers of their hives.

Winter care

Over winter, we try to eliminate any feeding of sugar syrups, instead, we leave a full box of natural honey on the hives as stores for the bees. Besides it just doesn’t seem sustainable, for them or us, to take all their honey from them. We only harvest honey that is excess to what the hive may need for winter.
